Hold the hotkey, say what you want written, let go. The words land at your cursor in whatever app is in front of you — your mail client, a chat box, a document, a form. Double-tap instead and it goes hands-free until you tap to stop.
Dictation is part of the desktop app and types into any focused field.

Hold the hotkey and talk. Release when you're done and the text is typed at your cursor — no window to switch to, no box to copy out of. Press Esc mid-sentence and nothing is typed at all.
Prefer not to hold a key? Double-tap instead and dictation latches on, hands-free, until you single-tap to stop. Useful for long passages, or when your hands are busy.
Everything you dictate is written to your own dictation history, so a transcript is never lost to a mis-click — and the same dictation works inside MyHandler's own text fields, not just other people's apps.

Rebind the hotkey, or change whether it holds or latches, in Settings. The default is a modifier pair chosen not to collide with what you already use.
